Delta Lambda Grand Reunion; February 27, 28, March 1, 2025’

Hundreds of Delta Lambda alumni and spouses and friends gathered over a three-day weekend, culminating in celebration of Founders’ Day, March 1st, 2025. The photo above shows those alumni who enjoyed the catered brunch at the house on Saturday, along with several Ritual Special Initiations, which took placed in Sembler Hall. Though some alumni were able to attend only one event; many more were able to enjoy experiences across three days.

We estimated about 200 alumni attended one or all of the weekend events.  They travelled from as far away as Los Angeles and Chicago.

Joel and Dianna Padgett ’71 hosted one of the pledge class reunion dinners Friday night. This one included fall pledges from 1968, 1969, 1970.

Thursday was a day of Pike golf at the Seminole course. Thursday night featured a massive gathering in College Town at a popular club called ‘Bowden’s’. The first wave of alumni mixed there for hours and then dispersed with their friends to other eating places in the area.
Friday was another day of Pike Golf. We arranged to get three luxury lounge boxes for the Seminole baseball game Friday afternoon to accommodate our alumni. There was a huge Pike tailgate event before the game hosted by our undergraduates. Other events Friday night included informal pledge class reunion dinners through downtown and College Town.

Delta Lambda power players entertained the National CEO of Pi Kappa Alpha Justin Buck (the big guy) at the Seminole Baseball game Friday afternoon. Doug Russell ’79, Tyler Russell ’10, Brent Sembler ‘79

More than 100 alumni gathered for the pre-Baseball tailgate under the shaded trees outside Doak Campbell Stadium.

For the big finale on Saturday night, heavy hors d’oeuvres and multiple bars were available to the huge, exclusive Pike gathering. Hundreds of photographs were projected on continual rolls on video screens throughout the club. One screen was reserved for a list of Delta Lambda Chapter Eternal. All other screens promoted memories of Chapter Days. At 8 pm, a local band hit the stage, and Pikes hit the dance floor (or the bars, or the food tables).

The Chapter had photographers present at all the alumni events. There are many, many photos, and you may access all of them through this link: PLEASE PUT LINK HERE

Saturday Night’s celebration at The Moon nightclub was an epic Pike Band Party.

Wayne Curtiss ’83, founder and owner of Smack Apparel, designed and graciously provided Reunion t-shirts to all alumni. Wayne has been providing designed t-shirts for Pike events for more than a decade.

Many of the principal organizers of this reunion are Legacy Dads: Reunion Chairman Joe Feheley ’81, Golf Chairman Doug Russell ‘79, Thursday Events Host Andy Miller ’70, Webmaster Chris Dietz ’85, Brunch Sponsor Rudy Rowe ’86, David Rancourt ’84.
Plus Joel Padgett ’71, Charlie Barnes ’65, Newsletter Editor Tim Sheridan ’79, Wayne Curtiss ’83, SMC Owen Murtagh, and Carlon Baldor as well as Chapter Advisors John Peacock ’01 and Steve Walker ’81.

It was a terrific weekend, and many alumni expressed strong feelings that a Grand Reunion should be repeated at appropriate intervals.

The Markowski Family – three fathers, three sons – are credited with the original concept for a quadrennial Delta Lambda Grand Reunion.

Pike News…

There are entire national fraternities that do not have even one alumnus on an NFL roster. Delta Lambda had two alumni who on the Eagles’ roster for the Super Bowl: Landon Dickerson ’17 (G #69) and Johnny Wilson ’23 (WR #89). Landon, now the highest paid offensive lineman in the NFL, transferred to Alabama after his sophomore year…

Big feature in the Miami Hearld on Harry Sargeant III ’79 conducting negotiations between President Trump and the President of Venezuela. “A Florida magnate with close ties to the Republican Party helped set up the recent meeting between Venezuelan strongman Nicolás Maduro and President Donald Trump, laying the groundwork for a major deal that would allow the Caracas regime to boost its oil sales to the United States in exchange for accepting hundreds of thousands of Venezuelan deportees.” Harry is a Legacy Dad twice over, with sons Harry IV ’02 and Garrett ’17….

With victories in flag football, 3X3 basketball and other sports, the undergraduate Chapter is closing in on their 15th Overall IM Championship in the last 25 years; more than all the other fraternities combined since 2001….

American television personality, and general heartthrob, Tyler Cameron (you can read about him on his Wikipedia page) visited the Pike house for the second time in three years to conduct a ‘Celebrity Workout’ for FSU sorority girls. More than 1,000 young women flooded into the Pike courtyard for the pleasure of working out with Cameron…

Larry Steyerman ’58 is a retired boat captain, and former owner of The Talem (a popular club back in the day). Larry called and arranged to send his Pike athletic jersey and huis jeweled Pi Kappa Alpha pin (complete with Delta Lambda guard) for display in the Chapter Archives. Thank you, Larry; we’re arranging now to have your jersey and pin framed for display. Larry in Ft Walton Beach 850-830-5511.

Steve Lowsky ’84 with son John Lowsky ’25, and Sean Carbonell ’86.

Rob Shuffield ’94 (UF) with sons Dean Shuffield ’23 and Dylan Shuffield ’25.

Proud New Legacy Dads Add to Delta Lambda’s Roster of Sires and Sons

In addition to these above, on Founders Day, Bill Pfeiffer ’25, founder of the Pfeiffer Law Group, was initiated by a Delta Lambda Ritual Team that included Bill’s sons Will Pfeiffer ‘20 and Reagan Pfeiffer ‘22.

Also, on Founders’ Day, William Saint Galvano ‘25, President of New College of Florida, and Past President of the Florida Senate, was initiated by our Delta Lambda Ritual team including Bill’s son William Sterling Galvano ’17.

We bid them all a hearty welcome into the Delta Lambda Brotherhood! Phi Phi K A

AD ASTRA
Brothers Entering Chapter Eternal

The Honorable Alfred Jay Powell ’71, member of the Georgia House of Representatives, and chairman of the powerful House Rules Committee, entered Chapter Eternal in late November, 2019. He was a prominent figure in Camilla, Georgia, where he often shared Pike fellowship with Camilla City Manager Mike Larkin ’67. Mike passed in 2014. Both men were good and loyal Delta Lambdas.

Robert “Bob” Doughty ’72 entered Chapter Eternal on December 22, 2020. Bob was an Air Force veteran, and owned Cox Insurance Agency in Thomasville, Georgia. He was an active Delta Lambda alumni, and helped found the original Old Guard in 1982.

Leonard “Lenny” Brantley ’87 passed peacefully into Chapter Eternal on February 25th, 2025. In Tallahassee, his honesty, dedication and craftsmanship earned him great respect as owner of Brantley Custom Homes. David Rancourt ’84 writes, “My Brother, my fantastic roommate and dear friend, I will miss you. I remember our many great times together, especially sitting in your living room watching Warrick Dunn come up short on that last play on FSU’s first loss on one of those weird weekend nights. I missed you in Basic Training, so you still owe me some pushups! Rest in Peace Lenny. Thoughts, prayers and much love to your family.”

Bob Tunkel ’66 writes, “Brother Paul (Buddy) Inman ’60 passed away on February 22, 2025. May he rest in peace.” Richard Finlaw ’61 added, “I do remember him well. So sad. My condolences to his family and to all of Chapter Brothers for the loss of  Brother Buddy.  He was truly a beloved member of our Delta Lambda family.”
Bob White ’63 said, “Buddy was a great brother and a great person! Rest in peace Buddy! Phi Phi K A.” Fred Ingley ’62 wrote, “A loss to all of us. Buddy was a great Brother and a Real Pike.  Several times while we were returning home from North Carolina to Florida we enjoyed stopping by for a get together and lunch or coffee. I’m sure that our Brothers in the Chapter Eternal will welcome him as he joins them. Phi Phi.”
J.L. Milton ’62 added, “Thank you. Buddy was a good fraternity Brother and I certainly remember him fondly!”

Peter W. Burnett ’68 entered Chapter Eternal on St Patrick’s Day, 2025. Pete was a life-long loyal and generous Delta Lambda. His older brother Russ Burnett ’65 passed in 2020.
Upon hearing from Janet of Pete’s passing, Randy Parker ‘70 was the first to send notice. “It is with heavy heart that I share sad news today. Our loved Brother and friend Pete passed away within the hour.” Randy will be travelling to the service in Maine. Mett Morgan ’70 wrote, “I’m sorry for the loss of such a kind, humble, funny and generous friend. He was a gentle giant.” Jim Provencher ’71 responded, “Pete was the reason I loved you guys. A real friend-advisor. He also loved the Pi Phis (sorority).” Andy Miller ’70 wrote, “Pete was a real thoughtful and gracious Brother.” Jim Barth ’71, Robert Heath ‘72, Rob Macklin ’70, Tim Marston ’70, Joel Padgett ’71 and others also expressed immediate condolences
